Known for its cashmere products, the luxury brand was created in 1978 in Solomeo, Italy by Brunello Cucinelli, the brand's eponymous founder.

The famous knit is the result of a true artisanal work respecting the tradition and a unique know-how of the Italian house.
Inspired by the readings of the American economist Theodore Levitt, the Haute Couture designer Brunello Cucinelli focused on luxury in the 1970s with the primary objective of countering any competition from emerging countries.
In 1985, the designer bought the former Solomeo castle and set up his company's headquarters. 1994 marks the launch of the first Brunello Cucinelli men's collection and the opening of the first boutique in Porto Cervo, Sardinia.
In 2002, the brand expands internationally with the opening of monobrand boutiques in the main capitals of the world. The market is based mainly in Europe, North America and East Asia.
In 2009, the luxury brand Cucinelli launched the first line of shoes. Today, with the diversification of its production, cashmere represents only 50% of the business.
In 2010, The Prince of Cashmere and his wife created the Brunello and Federica Cucinelli Foundation, whose aim is to support any initiative aimed at improving knowledge, protecting the earth and its monuments, underlining the value of tradition, promoting the spiritual and daily values of humanity.
