Yves Saint Laurent arrived in Paris in 1955 and enrolled in the school of the Chambre syndicale de la haute couture. He is very quickly hired by Christian Dior and will take his place at the age of 21 years.
Three years later, he founded his own Yves Saint Laurent fashion house in the early 1960s.
From his first collection in 1962, a new tone asserts itself: we owe him his famous caban and trench coat, then the adaptation of the tuxedo and trousers for women. Throughout his career, the stylist collaborates with theater, dance, film and visual artists. He thus creates Mondrian dresses or draws inspiration from Picasso, Matisse in his collections. He also dresses big names in cinema like Catherine Deneuve.
